How to Package Fragile Items for International Shipping
Professional packing techniques to protect glass, ceramics, electronics, and delicate goods during international transit.
Fragile items require extra care when shipping internationally. Proper packaging can mean the difference between items arriving intact or in pieces.
5-Step Packing Process
- 1Wrap each fragile item individually in bubble wrap (minimum 3 layers)
- 2Use a sturdy double-walled corrugated box that's at least 3 inches larger than the item on all sides
- 3Fill the bottom with packing peanuts or crumpled paper (3-inch layer)
- 4Place wrapped items in the center, ensuring they don't touch box walls
- 5Fill remaining space with packing material and seal with heavy-duty tape
Pro Tip
Always purchase additional insurance for fragile, valuable items. Basic coverage may not fully protect glass, ceramics, or antiques.
